Made in Solingen, Germany by Svoboda sometime in the 1950's-60's, this OUTSTANDING old bowie knife is as fine a knife as you'll find at any price. With a THICK, sturdy and RAZOR SHARP carbon steel blade atop some of the most impressive stag handle scales you'll ever come across, it's reinforced at the bolster with a brass cross-quillon that's designed to keep your fingers right where they belong--on your hand.

Handle scales are hafted over a full tang using three old-fashioned brass pins, which give the piece an overall effect of antique refinement. Comes used but in very good shape, as photos show, but the maker's marking stamped on the blade is too faint for us to get a photos. Also, the sheath is a bit rough and the upper snap no longer fits all the way around the handle--price reduced accordingly by a significant amount!

It's a hand-forged piece of substance yet enjoys a surprisingly light feel in the hand, with exceptional balance. At 12-7/8" long with an 8" blade that's 3/16 thick, it's a massive piece of self-defense and woe be unto whomever might be stupid enough to get on the wrong end of it.

It has a false edge but that edge is not sharpened, so the piece is entirely legal in Australia and New Zealand. The knife has been used and was made to be used but it has no problems and will continue to serve for generations--ready to add some true heft and size to any collection.
