Vintage Ww2 Western Shark G-46-6 Custom Fixed Blade Knife & New Sheath
This Vintage, RARE condition, Western Cutlery, G-46-6, WW2, "Shark", fixed blade knife is a true gem for Military collectors and outdoor enthusiasts alike. This knife was made by Western Cutlery, Boulder, Co. In the 1940's WW2 Era. The blade is made of high-quality carbon steel with a Custom Orange, Yellow & Black Pearl colored acrylic handle for added comfort and durability.
Maybe we should call this Western, WW2, G-46-6, the "Tiger Shark" due to it handle colors! It has Orange, Black, White and Aluminum spacers on both ends of the knife handle. These colorful custom handle spacers are painstakingly cut in the Western Double H tang pattern -just like the original leather spacers were.
The handle was originally stacked leather but after 80 years they tend to dry out a bit and need replacement. The knife's dexterity is ambidextrous, with a Western Cutlery patent H-double tang and a sabre point blade type that is perfect for hunting and other outdoor activities. This 1940's Western knife, WW2 ERA is dated by the tang stamp and overall military specs.
The knife blade is the "Bright Blade" version and shows very little wear if any. The knife comes with a New Custom made leather sheath in the Western Cutlery similar original design. I made these New about 20 years ago from a copy of an original Western WW2 "Shark" leather sheath.
I used premium stitched leather, black rivets and a "Dot" keeper snap. This knife was made in Boulder, Co. United States with a blade length of 6 edge.The overall length is 10 1/8 long. The blade is Very full and shows little use for being over 80 years old.
It's also very sharp--so be careful. This knife is tight all the way around--pommel, steel guard and handle. The pommel is original and has never been taken off. I also added the Orange & Black "Paracord" hand strap to accent the colorful handle. I did the handle work myself and this knife has been in my collection for over 20 years until I decided to customize the handle this week.
