The polishing will no doubt eliminate the etched Bowie on the right side of the blade, but the GL Koller Maker Mark on the right side ricasso is deeply stamped and should be fine. The blade has been carefully sharpened and is quite sharp.
The blade has a great point and a clean faux edge and spine. The crossguard is a small brass piece and the pommel appears to be stainless steel. The pommel is a little loose, but you should be able to tighten up the spanner nut on the pommel to fix that. The handle has 4 washers on either side of the stag handle. The handle is probably the best part of the knife. The stag is in great condition with no cracks. The right side of the handle has a deer with an impressive rack hand carved into it. The brown leather scabbard is nice and supple. The scabbard is complete with handle strap with functional snap.
All of the rivets are present, but most of the stitching is gone. There is some handwriting with marker on the rough back of the scabbard. The belt loop is marked W.This is a great knife from a rare maker. Some cleaning will help, but this is a rare one. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
