Offered for sale is a set of nine (9) RANDALL MADE KNIVES Model 12 BOWIE and Model 13 ARKANSAS TOOTHPICK Fixed Blade Knives. Maker : Randall Made Knives (Orlando, FL, USA). Catalog Descriptions : All of the RMK catalog descriptions quoted below are from the current Randall catalog.
Many of these include descriptions of the standard' versions of these knifes; the knives in this collection were all made to custom order. These 9 Randall Made knives comprise "The Joe Reisman Collection". All 9 of these knives were hand forged/crafted by Randall Made Knives in Orlando, Florida in the late 1960s or early 1970s, to the custom order of Mr. Reisman was a musician (saxophonist), band leader, record producer and music arranger for many artists including Henry Mancini.
I have no documents/paperwork regrading this provenance. A beautifully designed and executed set of Randall Bowie and Toothpick knives, all in similar custom-ordered configurations. The collection includes all 9 Randall Model 12 Bowie Knife and Model 13 Toothpick Knife varieties.
The collection includes all 9 original sheaths; no original sharpening stones/hones are included. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a spectacular (and complete) collection of vintage 50 years old! Randall Model 12 Bowie knives and Model 13 Arkansas Toothpick knives. Condition Notes: Knives : The knives are in overall excellent to near mint condition.
All appear to have their original shop edges (they appear to be unsharpened; I have not sharpened any of the knives). More significant condition issues are noted below. All of the hilts are unpolished, and have developed a rich dark patina. Some of the hilts have minor spotting.The fiber handle spacers have darkened. The stag handles are all in near mint condition; the handles have been periodically wiped with mineral oil. Owned and displayed by an adult collector in a smoke free home.
None of the original sharpening stones/hones are included. 6 newer replacement sharpening stones (5 plain salmon stones and 1 "Fine India" stone) are included.
All of the sheaths have minor to moderate wear including scuffs, scrapes, scratches, dark lines and discolorations. The'rough back' sheaths have moderate to heavy wear to the reverses (some are worn nearly smooth).Here are the 9 Randall Bowie and Toothpick knives you will receive in this collection. 375 stock O1 Swedish'high Carbon' tool steel. Stamped "Randall Made Orlando FLA" with double scimitars logo. 5 spacers (RWBWR) at hilt. Model A brown leather sheath with integral belt loop and hone pocket.
Reverse is smooth (appears to be a now smooth rough back). Reverse embossed with RMK logo and "12 11".
Original stone missing; later (plain salmon) replacement stone included. RMK Catalog Description : 11" blade of 3/8" stock, top cutting edge sharpened approx. 5 1/4 (approximate) leather handle. A replica of the famous Bowie knife of a century ago, similar to type displayed in the Smithsonian and used in the motion picture.
Condition : Blade is in excellent to near mint overall condition with minor spots, scuffs and scratches. Gorgeous dark coloring to the massive stag horn handle. Sheath has minor to moderate wear with a dark line at throat and few dark spots, mostly to reverse. Model 12-13 Raymond Thorp Bowie.
Sheath : Johnson rough back ("JRB") Model A brown leather sheath with integral belt loop and hone pocket. Reverse embossed with RMK logo and "12 13".

Modeled after design furnished by Raymond W. Probably the most nearly authentic Bowie type. There are a couple of small scuffs/scratches to sharpened top edge.
Sheath has moderate wear with some spots and minor discoloration. 5 spacer (RWBWR) at hilt. RMK Catalog Description : 11" blade of 1/4" stock. This knife is similar to types used by Confederate troops. Sheath has moderate wear with some spots and discoloration.Brass forward curving double hilt. Sheath embossed with RMK logo and "12 8B" on reverse.
Original stone missing; later ("Fine India") replacement stone included. RMK Catalog Description : 8" blade of 1/4" stock.
Top cutting edge sharpened approx. Brass double hilt, with forward curve. Designed on special order for a big game sportsman who planned to use it for hunting. Upon request, available in stainless steel. Condition : Blade has scuff/scrape on reverse side (looks like it could be from an old polishing of a blade spot), otherwise in excellent condition.Beautiful caramel color to stag handle. Sheath has moderate wear with spots, scuffs and discoloration; the keeper strap snap female element (base) has come loose from the sheath body; it is present and can probably be glued back in place.

Made to meet the demand of a heavy-duty sporting knife of the Bowie type.Sheath has moderate wear with spots and large areas of discoloration. Sheath : Johnson rough back ("JRB") brown leather sheath with integral belt loop. Reversed embossed with RMK logo and "6".
RMK Catalog Description : 1/4 stock. 4 1/2"-3/4" leather handle. A smaller Bowie-type knife for sporting uses. Sheath has moderate wear with dark line at throat and darkened area on keeper strap (indicating that the knife was stored in the sheath for some period), spots and discoloration.
Rough back Model A brown leather sheath with integral belt loop and hone pocket. Reverse embossed with RMK logo and "13 12".RMK Catalog Description : 12" blade of 1/4" stock. A replica of the historic stiletto-dagger famous in Confederate days. Deep dark color to stag handle. Sheath has moderate wear with minor spots and lines/scuffs.
The snap on the keeper snap has previously separated, but is currently intact. The snap is fragile and may separate again. Model 13 Small Arkansas Toothpick. 7 spacers (RWRBRWR) at hilt.
Sheath : Johnson rough back ("JRB") Model B brown leather sheath with integral belt loop; no hone pocket. Reverse embossed with RMK logo and "13 6". RMK Catalog Description : Similar to Arkansas Toothpick but smaller and lighter throughout. 6" blade of 1/4" stock. Comes with hilt as shown on Model 2. For desk or concealed weapon use. Sheath has minor to moderate wear.
