My " 959 " Puma is one of Puma's last handmade Masterpieces from 1979. Entirely Handmade in Solingen Germany. The blade is specially produced and developed PUMA Stainless Super Keen Steel.

This 959 is a five part PUMA Universal folding knife made to the specification of Oberforstmeister / Head Ranger FREVERT having daily valuable practical experience in hunting. The PUMA Universal hunting knife is particularly suitable for all hunting purposes, whether dealing with large or small game. The unique knife has its specific PUMA production number: 24972 and you can look up the production year on the PUMA website. I bought this "959" in late 1979 and it is my knife for the last 40 years.

When traveling on a plane I always put my 959 securely with my Merkel U&O in the gun case. This hunting knife was part of my knife collection accomplished in Monaco and the knifes were acquired from Lorenzi Milan. Lorenzi, when still in Via Monte Napoleone Milan / Italy, one of the best knife shop in the world.

Being always for the first day of the Elk season in Finland I registered at the Helsinki airport gun register just behind Erich Honecker - in those days Chairman of the Council of State of the German Democratic Republic. My 959 is still in perfect condition, never sharpened always treasured, always admired with envy. Apart from the main blade - there is a robust Saw with a Cartridge Extractor and Screwdriver and of course engraved with PUMA Germany and Rostfrei a curved Gutting Blade with a secured rounded end with engraved PUMA Germany and Rostfrei a PUMA engraved bird drawing hook, because even when hunting for Elks you might see & get a wood grouse too in the Forest of Finland and a special cork screw with a circumferential notch, assuring best grip when you pull - as your Petrus Pomerol deserves it! Stag-horn scales with a Sterling silver 888 inlay to engrave your name. This silver inlay is still unused and the next owner can put his mark!

As the PUMA 959 is a timeless masterpiece I always saw me only as its custodian. The mountings are solid nickel silver. Drop Blade length 3.25 inch / 8.25 cm Overall 7.75 inch / 19.68 cm when closed 4.5 inch / 11,4 and weight in oz 8.1 / 230 g.
