Kinfolks sheath knife: This elite brand name refers to the original owners of Kinfolks knives being cousins of the Case Knives brothers/owners. Their company originally subcontracted to Case to manufacture fixed-blade knives with Case stamping for sale. Eventually they branched into their own logo and also made fighting knives and bayonets for the U. After the war, they focused production on outdoors and kitchen knives.
Inevitable buyouts ended the Kinfolk name in the mid-1950s, though the company continued to operate until 1965 producing Robeson knives, another highly regarded brand. This knife was used for its purpose, as seen by a number of very small scratches on the blade. Apparently it required little sharpening beyond honing, as the blade shows no sharpening-stone scratches or angle-deviations, and appears to be in full-width condition. Blade is made of mirror-polished carbon steel, length is 5-1/2. Full length of the knife is 9-7/8.Handle is made of stacked leather discs with colored spacers and has been shaped with finger-grooves for better grip. The Kinfolks USA stamp appears on the front of the tang.
The original owner shamelessly engraved his name on the back of the blade, as if knife-scarring a beautiful woman. Appearing not to trust his fellow-hunters in deer-camp, he also inked his name and hometown on the back of this original leather sheath. The well-preserved sheath carries decorative stamping and the Kinfolks logo on the front, and has a strap with a snap to hold the handle of the knife.
