The Buck 639 Fieldmate knife was introduced in 1986 and remained in production until approximately 1994. This model was designed as a more compact and affordable version of the Buckmaster series, featuring a 5.5-inch 425M stainless steel clip-point blade with sawteeth on the spine. The handle was made of Kraton, a durable elastopolymer, and the knife was produced in various configurations, including different handle materials and versions without sawteeth.
Production ceased in the mid-1990s, partly due to a lawsuit between Buck Knives and Phrobis, the designers of the original Buckmaster, over design similarities. The overall length is 10. Comes with a Bear MGC genuine leather sheath, which is not original to the knife but is in very good condition.
