Please read our Terms below for details. PLEASE NOTE: We take our photos in natural light outdoors and as a result there are sometimes reflections or shadows or glare shown in the blades. In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. This is an incredibly fine and rare piece, an outstanding skinner made in the early-mid 1900's by J.

It comes with a beautiful leather sheath that was custom made to hold it, and hold it it does--and of VERY fine quality, as you can clearly see in the photos. It is simply one of the finest vintage Green River-style skinning knives of its kind in a nice, handy size that enables it to be employed for an unlimited number of uses. Like all Henckels knives, it's full of the kind of expensive, labor-intensive quality that earned them a world-class reputation for quality. Unlike today's mass-produced, hot-drop forged stainless steel blades i.

By machine, it enjoys a fully hand-forged carbon steel blade, made from superior virgin steel. As such, it is quite superior to that made today by any but the most demanding custom cutlers. It is very comfortable in the hand and allows a comfort and control that eludes most knives--perfect for making the difficult strokes necessary to cleanly skin fallen game or livestock in the field. A collector's piece though it may be, it would be an utter shame not to use it. Its blade is made of beautiful carbon steel, and will hold a razor's edge, with relatively easy honing.

Handle is beautifully ebony, rock solid with no problems of any kind. If you've never used a carbon steel knife before, you're in for a treat. Experienced butchers, chefs, and hunters know that only a true carbon steel blade can consistently attain the razor-sharp edge that makes using it a true pleasure you must wipe the knife after every use to avoid stains and rusting, but will be richly rewarded with superior performance!

This knife is perfectly balanced and will make you wonder why you suffered for all these years without one. When you hold a knife like this it feels like an extension of your hand, not like a weight you're simply holding. As you can see in the photos, it's beautifully preserved with a blade that's full and sharp; handle is tight, completely free of cracks or any other problems.

Measures 10" with a WICKEDLY sharp 6" blade--but no matter how you skin it, it comes up huge. Whether you are a professional or amateur, you'll instantly come to love this magnificent vintage knife as one of your very favorites. It's designed for the primary purpose of dressing and skinning a carcass, either in the field or in the meat locker, but it's also a SUPERB trimmer of meats and boning knife, when precision and tight quarters are the order of the day.

Many chefs treasure this design and size as their primary utility knife, cutting everything from tough packaging or twin to sinew and tougher root vegetables, to spare their finer chef knives the harsh conditions. Will make an exceptionally surprising gift for the discriminating chef or hunter on your list.
